Williamson “Yaya” Jacques
Bonjou tout moun! Hello Everyone!
My name is Williamson Jacques, but everyone calls me “Yaya.” I was born in a family of four children in Gwo Jan. I am 27 years old. I am the youngest of the family and I am a twin as well. My father died when I was 2 years old. It was my mother and my aunt who supported me in my education. It is because of them that I was able to finish high school. However, the next step for me is to go to university, which is something that is very difficult in Haiti. They don’t have the means to send me to university, which is one of my greatest dreams.
It has been two years since I finished school, and I haven’t started university yet. For now I am taking a plumbing class, that also teaches us how to make sandals. I will share what I learn from this class with a group of young people in my community, so they can benefit as well. I hope to take a preparation class for the TOEFL exam in October so I can take the test in November.
My goal is to go to university in a country like Canada or the United States, and then return to my homeland, Haiti, so I can provide services for my country. I don’t know exactly what I want to study yet, but I am interested in education and agronomy.
Finally, my dream is a universal dream, because anyone who wants to be a part of this dream is participating in helping the world advance!
